A Prayer to Be Broken

Idle, I was drifting.

barely sifting in your waves.

‘Til the day that you convinced me

merely sifting wasn’t saved.

So you tossed me in your tidal

and helpless I learned faith.

You cast me ‘gainst your rocky shores

and bloodied I felt bathed.

You stepped on me, and stepped along

and shattered I grew strength.

And washed ashore, so many more

of Us you made that day.

The Merry Pair

He was merry

She was merry

Merry they would be.

They would marry

persons married

Married with a deed.

Sold a merry

Stole a merry

Never she would be.

Just to marry

To be married

sold within a deed.

He was merry

she was merry

younger, lighter speed.

Sold his married

and Her merry

for a brighter breed.

Without merry

though She carried

his and Her love’s steed

There She buried

Their love’s merry

Stout and breathless breed.
